- BRINDISI
The town owes its importance to the presence of a port that, thanks to its characteristic double inlet, has always been one of the most secure ports of the Adriatic Sea. In addition to the well-known Roman columns, it is possible to visit a large area of the Messapian-Roman town, under the new Town Theatre, whose houses are located along a huge paved road which is still practicable today. Moreover, Brindisi has many monuments of great historical and artistic importance like the ancient church of S. Giovanni al Sepolcro, the 16th century Nervegna Palace and the imposing baroque faÁade of the Cathedral.

- VALESIO
The site is now the object of the Dutch Archaeological Mission's study that represents the first systematic research after years of ravaging. Situated in the immediate hinterland of Brindisi along the ancient Roman Appian Way the village was one of the centres under the direct influence of the port of Brindisi. It is possible to see some parts of the walls and part of the necropolis.

Placed in the countryside of Torchiarolo, between Brindisi and Lecce, Valesio has roughly quadrilateral fortification walls, some parts of which are disguised in a countryside that is characterized by the typical olive trees and vineyards. Over the last years the area has been the object of systematic research by the Dutch Mission that has also brought to light late Roman baths. The visit to this building allows us to learn the functioning of these baths through the observation of the various rooms that were warmed thanks to a complex system of hot air circulation.
